things snow collects

The snow collects the good with the bad, as can be seen when it melts. This blog is my snow, holding onto my experiences.

cupcakes for you
05.24.05 (11:23 pm)   [edit]

Aaron is now graduated.  It's weird that he is around more- that I am the one gone more than him.  For some reason, he really seems like a young adult today.  A little scruffy (hasn't shaved) and casual (jeans and t-shirt).  His appearance is nothing different than usual, but maybe 'cause he's at a different stage in life, I'm viewing him differently.  He's apartment-searching, along with job-securing- so he's been busy. . .

There are so many cupcakes left over!!  There was an open house for Aaron Sunday, and 3 dozen+ cupcakes, spinach dip, etc.- and too much is left!!  if you live in Orange, please eat!  it's at Aaron's place- you know you want it.

It was nice spending time with Aaron's parents.  I like them a lot.  They're easy to talk with and it is really transparent how much they care for their son.

I am sick.  I think it is a cold.  No coughing- just mostly a stuffy nose- where are hot peppers when I need them?

time to get up!
05.17.05 (11:29 am)   [edit]

7 o'clock is 7 o'clock is 5 o'clock.

I had the hardest time waking up this morning- I thought I had slept about 6 hours, but I couldn't get up for the life of me.  Finally, when the clock was at 7:30, I decided to go make sure Aaron was awake and ready for his math final.  On my way out the door, I noticed the clock said, '5:30.'  5:30??  My clock can change time zones (good for travelling!), so I thought maybe I'd bumped that- but no, it was still 'P'-time ... well, whatever happened, I was awake 2 hours before I needed to be.  I also had scary dreams that I always remembered whenever I woke up.  I couldn't tell you what they're about, since I can't remember, but blegh for that and hurray for time!!  It's something we can all relate with or around.

speaking of which
05.16.05 (3:49 pm)   [edit]

This weekend was a blast.  Friday, we went to LA for Aaron's interview with a production company, which went well, and from there, we picked up Peter, Aaron's friend from Oregon who recently graduated from Loyal M. near the ocean (I wrote about the soccerfield in the previous post)- anyways . . . Peter is great and a lot of fun to hang out with.  He's on the quiet side, but is funny and intelligent.  Speaking of which, when we returned Peter to LA, we traded him in for Matt Grynewski (sp?), so to speak.  We went to a pier and ate fish tacos and icecream and walked around and talked.  Matt's doing well, and is working with kids with Autism.  He and Abby (again, sp?) are moving closer to potential grad schools.  They have a good, friendly dog that's a Rotweiler mix.  It was great catching up.  It's been a good 'meet the friends' weekend for both Aaron and I.  Now it's back to the 'normal' work week for me, and finals for Aaron.

Los Angeles is not for everyone.

Yesterday, Aaron and I went to Los Angeles- for his interview and to pick up a friend.  Let me tell you, it was the sunniest, hottest day I can remember for my whole life, and traffic was the worst.  When They rated I-5 as one of the worst in the country, they weren't kidding.  There isn't a carpool lane, among other things.  That's enough about that- but there were some cool things.  For one, there's a soccer field atop a parking structure at Peter's school, and it has a beautiful view of some hills and possible the ocean.  It was very refreshing, and one of the most beautiful things I've seen in quite some time.  We went to eat some Southern cooking, and it was great.

I need to go now, but I hope you all are having a great weekend!

INTJ
05.11.05 (5:53 pm)   [edit]

or ISTJ or INFJ or something like that.  According to a version of Jung's personality test, linked to on Hope's page, I am INTJ, with I and J being strong and N and J less so.  What's that mean?  I stands for Introvert, N= iNtuitive, T= Thinking, J=Judging (versus Extrovert, Sensing, Feeling, Perceiving).  This somehow makes me a 'Rational Mastermind,'  and my ways of dealing with life were compared to a game of chess.  I thought I had changed since I took the test in high school, but apparently not, and I've grown more introverted!!  But then again . . . wait!! Shocking news: according to some 'marriage compatibility' thing, where Aaron and I plugged in our letters (ENFP & INTF), we have 'unsatisfactory compatibility.'  AKA we're not enough alike.   I'm pouting, but Aaron assures me that a test like that doesn't factor enough things in, and that it doesn't necessarily spell D-O-O-M for our relationship.

Also, Genreal Ulysses S. Grant , C.S. Lewis, Angela Lansbury and Gandalf the Grey are example of my personality-type.  And I don't think of myself as a perfectionist.

We went on a train-ride Saturday.  The local metro was celebratnig 11 years, and so the day was free.  Sadly, it's only noramlly open on weekdays.  Anyways, we rode around with our friends and a million young families, and had a blast.  Aaron looked good in his paper conductor hat.  I want to go to this mission they have in San Juan Capistrano.  It was closed when we got there (close to 5  I think).  IT's so old (1776) and awesome looking.  There were a bunch of freebies (OK, more small discounts than freebies), and we got strawberry icecream cones.  It was a good weekend evening.
The high schoolers are taking their state tests this week, so I feel more like a normal teacher.  I didn't have to read the instructions or anything, but I need to collect the folders, etc. . .
I can't think of anything else to say.
