'Moo' at the Zoo
The snow collects the good with the bad, as can be seen when it melts. This blog is my snow, holding onto my experiences.

| 'Moo' at the Zoo |
| 07.19.05 (9:34 am) [edit] |
Let's go back in time. I could talk about two years ago, how after a concert in the park with Rebecca St. James, and kettle chips, orange juice, and peaches (or were they nectarines?), Aaron and I had a long talk (after praying for a couple weeks,) and decided to start dating, despite fully knowing we'd soon be in different parts of the country. Today makes two years- hurray! Instead, let's go to San Diego. I was told that the San Diego Zoo is either 'the best' or one of them in this country, so I was excited to visit there while I lived in California. The day finally came May 29th. We got there in the afternoon, and were able to stay about 3 hours. I would recommend the whole day if you're able to. There is a lot to see, and it's pricey ($20?) I definitely like my free (donations-based) zoo in Racine, but it is much smaller than the zoo in San Diego. My favorite guy there was the Takin. He's very cute, like a buffalo/yak. He can be found below with the giraffes. Did you know that he has 'horns like a wildebeest, a nose like a moose, a tail like a bear, and a body like a bison'? http://www.sandiegozoo.org/ He comes from the mountains of China. The giraffes looked very precise as they walked around- like they purposefully made patterns of the distance and direction amongst themselvs, in addition to their alread-patternful selves! Elephants are my favorite animals, although takins now have a big place in my heart- they are irresitably cute to me- and I heard some noises from them I had never heard before that day. I think the male was beckoning the female, but while she came over, it seemed like she was in control. The noise was very loud; I wish I could speak Elefantian (I was attempting to in the pic)! Ed and Aaron are in the front seat, with Nicole and I in back. We picked up Heather in San Diego. The hippo was massive, but its feet seemed more like extensions of its legs- like they would not support its weight if it tried to stand. The Texas longhorns are cute, and I'm sure glad i don't have to hold those horns up!
When we first came in the zoo, there was a peacock strutting around, sitting on the fence, etc., and it was a good reminder that while it is cool that we could see all of these animals, they really aren't in their natural environment. After the zoo closed, we went out to eat at Corvette's, basically a diner with a speciality in shakes, and a 50s theme- from the decor to outfits, etc. It is easy for things to stick in Aaron's hair, such as straw wrappers. They gave us a bunch of Bazooka gum at the end, and Aaron is a great bubble-blower. He blew much bigger bubbles, but I didn't catch them on film. We were at a candy shop validating parking.

Thank-you.
We wished each other 'Happy Anniversary,' but have not anything special. We are working on gifts/projects, though, that we can share when we see each other in person. (That will be in August when Aaron comes here for my birthday). When does NCU start?
