the hokey-pokey

The snow collects the good with the bad, as can be seen when it melts. This blog is my snow, holding onto my experiences.

the hokey-pokey
07.23.05 (7:52 am)   [edit]
I went to a wedding last weekend. It was the second in my life of friends getting married. My cousins have, and at least one friend has gotten married out-of-state, so this was a good, more-real experience. Surprisingly, it didn't weird me out at all that the couple is my age. I should correct myself: The groom was less my friend and more a guy I grew up in church with. I had never even met his bride before the wedding, but I've only heard good things about her. It was the most simple wedding I have ever seen, with hardly any flowers or ribbon, but it was also elegant and everyone seemed so happy. I thought the groom would explode with happiness! I went to the reception with my mom (who had missed the ceremony because she was working). It was fun, and good talking with people I hadn't seen since high school. The best man gave a great speech about he and the groom growing up, the differences and similarities between them, and how he really saw/felt how the bride completes him (like he always smiled when he talked about her). I sat with a girl who has had a tough year, and when the dance floor opened up, it was really tough on her (not having someone to dance with). I tried my best to cheer her up, and we'll hang out soon, but they mostly played slow songs, so I couldn't get her up and dance the hokey pokey or anything. It was good music, and I wished Aaron was there to dance with me, but it was nice seeing the wedding party dance, especially the groom and his mom. :D
I will start babysitting 3 kids on Monday, 'til school starts. It's 3 hours a day, M-F. It consists of making them sandwhiches, seeing that they do their chores, and then we swim. They are a co-worker of my mom's kids. I'm excited to help out, and at least I have a set schedule! It also helps me deal with my 'real job' situation better. I've worked at a clothing store for 3 weeks now, and I knew we were going to move to the other end of the mall, but only yesterday, I found out that we'll be closed for 3 weeks. (As if it's not bad enough that I was only working about 13 hours a week). I may have the option to commute to another branch, about an hour away. The better part of that story is that the last day of work at the store is August 4th, and Aaron's coming on the 5th, so I can spend more time with him :P.
And I've been so vague with names, etc., because of the recent employee getting fired over her blog.
Hope that if you're stuck in the heat that's melted a good portion of this country, that you have a way to keep cool, and drink plenty of water. Tomorrow's supposed to hit 99 here.

Aaron's staying almost 5 days, and I can't wait for that to happen!
The employee i was thinking about worked for a beauty company that had various promotions going on that she mentioned, probably dissed her boss, and she thinks she deserved to be fired, because she could have been more careful of what she posted. I can't find her online, but I did find a link on how to NOT get fired for your blog: http://help.blogger.com/bin/answer.py?answer=661&topic=-1
And I have fun putting collages together, so hopefully those who see it can get a feel for the life I'm experiencing.
you love so many things! I love people-watching, but sometimes I forget to actively participate!

Hurray, Hope!!!
Yes, I will be home. Aaron comes in Friday night- so we can all hang out!! You can spend the night, if you have time (I think that'd be great). The plans for Sunday include a pool party in the afternoon, and the more people, the merrier!
