moms are the best sometimes

posted by: newbie (reply) post date: 08.12.05 (5:36 pm) mothers are all evil, as are all women. posted by: newbie (reply) post date: 08.13.05 (3:45 am) I'm sorry you've had such bad experiences with moms and women as to make you say that, but there's no way that you've met every female out there- so how can you be certain that they're all evil? I hope you meet some worthwhile ones soon- they can certainly rock your world. posted by: newbie39 (reply) post date: 08.13.05 (4:38 am) Holy crap your font is big now! posted by: newbie (reply) post date: 08.13.05 (8:21 am) You need paragraphs. posted by: hopie26 (reply) post date: 08.13.05 (5:14 pm) Maybe this isn't what you want to hear now, but it helped me with my summer job: You will really appreciate the great job that God has saved for you, after being at this job where you are not valued as you should be. :) posted by: Aro (reply) post date: 08.13.05 (8:40 pm) what's with all the newbies being mean these days? Erin's a great girl who already has more than enough paragraphs to her name, so lay off! posted by: newbie39 (reply) post date: 08.14.05 (8:18 am) I kinda agree with newbie, actually. (Although whoever it is does sound kind of mean, I agree). A paragraph break now and again can make things a lot easier to read. posted by: newbie (reply) post date: 08.15.05 (7:16 am) I am not mean. I just said that you need more paragraphs. Some other newbie wrote that about mothers, not me. I don't agree with that. posted by: AC (reply) post date: 08.15.05 (8:36 am) Maybe you could just go ahead with that plan of talking with customers about non-shopping related, saving someone's soul stuff, and get fired for that! That would be really cool! (except for the not having the income part...) ...and come on people, how hard is it to write your name in the little box instead of simply leaving newbie? i guess if you want to make mean comments... Aro just told me about your ambitions of teaching overseas and that's very cool! i hope and pray you get some good leads on that. posted by: Aro (reply) post date: 08.15.05 (8:36 am) I just figured both newbies were the same. That's why it's good to use an ID even if you aren't registered (like me). Anyway, I agree yes, that paragraphs usually make things easier to read. posted by: newbie39 (reply) post date: 08.16.05 (9:38 pm) AC-- Just curious, how is suggesting some paragraphs being mean? posted by: SparklingSnow (reply) post date: 08.17.05 (6:08 pm) Reply to: newbie I tried to go back and make paragraphs, but decided it was all one big idea- not easily seperated. I'll keep that in mind for future updates, though. hopie26: thanks for the encouragement! and yay, Aro, Newbie39, and AC for your input! posted by: newbie39 (reply) post date: 08.18.05 (11:27 am) You don't understand paragraphs, Erin. If you were working for any newspaper, you'd learn fast to separate every idea into numerous two to three sentence paragraphs! :) posted by: Aro (reply) post date: 08.18.05 (1:13 pm) Sure, but newspapers are different from blogs. what I learned in my journalism classes is that the paragraph breaks are more for aesthetics than anything else -- so that the reader won't see a huge block of text and just give up. that may be what our unnumbered and supposedly un-mom-hating newbie did when he or she arrived at this page. I agree that paragraph breaks can help make something more readable, but I also think that in something more stream of conciousness like a blog or a journal they aren't necessarially needed. I guess I'm kind of ambivalent about punctuation as a whole unless it's for something official/paid for. they're rules to guide and help. or something. posted by: newbie39 (reply) post date: 08.19.05 (7:52 am) "what I learned in my journalism classes is that the paragraph breaks are more for aesthetics than anything else -- so that the reader won't see a huge block of text and just give up." Well then it's not just about aesthetics, is it? Because that's what people are doing here . . . seeing a big block of text and giving up. But of course they aren't required on a personal webpage! You can do whatever you want with your own page. These are just suggestions, not demands. posted by: AC (reply) post date: 08.20.05 (10:18 pm) The fact that this discussion has gone on so long is pretty crazy... AND! somebody made a response to my post who i don't know! Wow! As for the paragraphs thing, i pretty much like it how it is--plus, Erin can right her posts how she darn well pleases. posted by: SparklingSnow (reply) post date: 08.21.05 (2:37 am) I think it's the font that makes it look like one long post- my new entry has 5 sections, but if you look at the left, all smushes together. I even tried indenting to fix it, but it didn't work. I think I'll try something else now. posted by: newbie39 (reply) post date: 08.21.05 (9:39 am) Do two returns between paragraphs instead of one . . . like you did in your new post! |
