want or don't

The snow collects the good with the bad, as can be seen when it melts. This blog is my snow, holding onto my experiences.

want or don't
06.15.06 (8:31 am)   [edit]

am i being shy?  haven't written as much lately... some things that are going on include: guy(s) interested or not in me.  One I know for sure is, and today will be the day that I clearly blow him off.  it's one of those situations that i just hoped would go away or wasn't the way that i was perceiving it, that he was just friendly and spoke to every woman flirtaciously.  I was wrong.  i know i've made a big deal of this, but it seems like one to me- it's not something that happens every day.  so yeah, fun.  but on the opposite end of things, i'm learning about guys not only through real life experience, but through books!  the current one is He's Just Not that into You.  I definitely recommend it, and it's by the same authors as It's Called a Break-up 'cause it's Broken.  I sound like such a girl (surprise! I am).  I lack common sense or just don't see things as they are, only how I'd like to or fear them to be, so it's a good perspective.  What I've gained from it so far is that if a guy likes you, he'll let you know and go great lengths to be with you!  Doesn't that sound like a prince/knight?  I know guys can be wimps, and need encouragement and all that- so it's not as simple as waiting in a castle tower as my guy goes on a treacherous journey to get to me... but I'm anti-pushy at this point, and will retreat some place.  I want to be fought for.  hmm... sounds so selfish, but that's where I'm at- I'm (attempting to) chill out and walk slowly.  (while linking to it's called a... I found my myspace was the first result!! of all the things...)

Speaking of books, I've decided to (re-)read some of the classics.  I just finished The Giver (excellent) and am almost half-way through The Sword in the Stone.  My mind just keeps going back to the Disneyfied version, so when they continue to use words I can only guess at, I sigh and push onwards.  It is interesting, and I enjoy the adventure and challenge.  Any suggestions of other classics to go for?  I'm taking a book or two on tape for the road trip, also.

I'm an otter, according to one of those 'What animal are you?' quizzes.  they tried to say I was a snake or bat, and I can see some of the attributes, but otter was almost dead-on.  I don't want to limit who i am, so I won't say what they said, but I thought some of the 'careers and hobbies' were hilarious.  One was 'Pro sport,' but everything else was doable or what I enjoy.  If you take the quiz, let me know what animal you are!

Well mine said that I was either a wild dog or an owl. I can see a lot of my attributes in the wild dog

interesting combo. the owl i can see in some aspects- I agree more with the wild dog, especially the part about taking an idea and running with it. when I had browsed the personalities earlier, the wild dog is one that stuck out to me, and now that i see a good friend is one, that makes me smile
and today wasn't the day, I guess. I didn't talk to the guy. wasn't the opportunity, and i sure wasn't approaching him in his office. grrrr

well... regarding guys, i actually told matt that i liked him :) It was mainly because we were hanging out a lot, and I knew I had feelings for him, that were not friendship... And I knew that i could not just be friends with him, and I was at some point going to have to be not honest, if I was being friends with him, in hopes that one day he would like me as well, and then pursue me. So I decided, I just needed to be honest with him, and tell him where I was (mind you we were good friends) it turned out well, as you know :)
So... This is a much longer story, that I'll have to continue later :)

And... I am an Owl :) just like Madonna and Brad Pitt, and also heads of state, now that's a combo ;)

your story does have a happy ending! married and obviously loving each other... i def want to hear more of the story. and i may loosen up later on, but i'm cocooning myself for everyones sake for the time being. I'm working on a better way to vent than lashing out at those I care about the most.

"...if a guy likes you, he'll let you know and go great lengths to be with you..."
- this is what I wish I had, don't settle for a wimp, don't chase a man, is my unsolicited advice. :-)
I'm planning to read "the classics" too, as a challenge, as an achievement, to improve my vocabulary, to be among 'the elite'! hehe

oh- i love advice. it's great to at the very least get others' perspectives. As far as guys go, I've calmed down a bit, and am enjoying being friends and going from there.
and I'm just finishing up 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest,' and will watch the movie afterwards. if you're interested in psych wards or what someone on drugs writes, I may recommend it. I love reading, and def think it's a great way to expand my vocabulary (now as far as using the new words in the right context, that's another thing).
Hope you had a good 4th of July, thanks for commenting!
