birthday post

The snow collects the good with the bad, as can be seen when it melts. This blog is my snow, holding onto my experiences.

birthday post
08.11.07 (3:59 pm)   [edit]

why do I feel the need to edit my life?  Or at least my feelings?  I want to scream, "Screw you, ______!"  Is it really necessary?  or useful?  It may help me process some things, but what good will it do?  It's really easy to pick up on and echo others' moods and attitudes- and that is one that I want to stop in its tracks.

Maybe birthdays and New Year's are more alike than I thought.  At least it seems that way this year.  Between very thoughtful well-wishes and honest questions about my hopes and dreams for the year, I half expected a countdown 'til midnight.  The celebrations started with my family a week or so ahead of time, continued at work the actual day-of and concluded last night with some good friends.

Now I'm going for some fresh air.  I'm still upset & don't want to be.  Then, I might pack- I'm dog/house-sitting next week.

Happy Birthday! Glad to hear it was a good one. I have a week celebration too plus the day after. LOL

Thank you! It's great celebrating for so long!

What is it about families and celebrations that revert us all back to being ten year-olds? I hope this wasn't your experience, but as I read your post I wondered if you fell into an old role that you still fill even though it no longer applies or fits?

I can relate to reverting like you described, but that was not the case this time. I felt very much like an adult- but an adult that is obviously cared for. :)
P.S.
I reserve a little bit of reverting for when I visit my family. What do others do?

Whew - glad to hear that it was not a back-to-being-ten-years-old situation. I just went home for a visit last weekend and it went wonderfully. I am nervous about returning as I don't want to shatter this great memory, heh.

Glad to hear you had such a good time.
I think that nothing has to take away our good experiences. Just because we have times when our grandma disappoints us or because every good experience doesn't build on the last just means we're human & we can look at those good times and appreciate them more or do something to give good memories to others.
