Having a boyfriend with a similar name has led to some confusion and amusement. Going through http://www.behindthename.com/... , I found clear differences between our names. ‘Aaron’ is pronounced ‘Er-un’ and is from a Hebrew background, which most likely comes from an Egyptian origin. The meanings were given as ‘high mountain’ or ‘exalted. Some variations include: AARÓN ÁRON ARON ARRON – w/ the emphasis on the accented vowel. There is still an ‘o,’ ‘e,’ or ‘u’ sound in there, such as in the combination name AAREN, which can be used for either sex, and that is pronounced with the ‘en.’ ERIN, on the other hand, is an Anglicized form of Eireann, which is from Eirinn, which means ‘Ireland.’ ERIN is pronounced ‘ER-in.’ The only other variation I found was ERYN, which was pronounced the same.

‘Erin’ may not have many forms, but ELIZABETH, my middle name, sure does!! Some are: ELIKAPEKA, ELZBIETA, ELISAVET, EILÍS, and ELISABETA. Let me know what you find! (Names and meanings can be so fun!)

sweet, I'm going to call you Eireann Elikapeka Polzin from now on! I say it's time to bring back the archaic! or should I say, "forsooth!"

Also, I've yet to meet anyone who spells my name differently than I do, yet for some reason many, may people think it's got two Rs instead of two As. I guess I'm probably the wrong person to be complaining about spelling though!

Well Aaron, the other spellings are variations of the same name- just Poland's or Spain's or whoever's way of doing things. For Elizabeth, I even found a Macedonian version! And I don't know anyone w/ a cool different version of my given middle, but it's cool to know that if I visit or move to another country, I could adapt my name to their spelling. But most countries listed were in Europe, so maybe that limits the places I could do so. I wonder if there's a Chinese or Korean version of my name, and what it would look like, and sound like?
