water over wine

The snow collects the good with the bad, as can be seen when it melts. This blog is my snow, holding onto my experiences.

water over wine
08.11.04 (10:55 pm)   [edit]

this is my first rose that bloomed, back in June, I think it's called Dusk 'N' Dawn.

I'd choose water over wine, if given the option at the dinner table.  I've found water to be refreshing and wine to be gross.  For every use I can think of water having (cleaning, cooking, watering the garden, falling from the sky), I'd prefer water over wine.  But there seems to be something sacred about wine- what is it?  I just keep thinking about the song with the line: 'Would you choose- water over wine?' and then some words I can't remember- and then 'Whatever tomorrow brings, I'll be there. (with open and open arms)'--- Man, I can't think of how it really goes- I like to make words to songs up- when I don't hear them clearly or understand what they mean, I just sort of fill in the blanks.  Well, all I can say is that I will face tomorrow- whatever good or bad, easy or tough things may come my way.

I really think I'd choose the wine over the water. Its about the smootest form the demon alcohol comes in. Give me a good old bottle of Canadian Port 74 anyday!

Cheers

i know what you mean about giving songs your own lyrics when you don't know what the words are or you can't understand them...the downside is when it is a song you really like, and then one day you find out that the lyrics are totally different from what you thought, and not just different, but stupid...it kind of bums you out, makes you wish you could either rewrite the song or wring the necks of the band...anyway, lol, i don't care for water all that much, but i've never had wine, so who knows what i'd prefer? but i like to think i am daring...so wine...lol...:]

How can you not be a fan of water?! Do you then dislike 70% of your body (and everyone elses?)
Water is wonderful and I have a cup of it right here with me!
I'll agree with you on lyrics, though -- it's annoying to find out that what you've been singing is not only different, but actually better than the original.
Erin, I believe the song you are speaking of is an Incubus song called "Drive." I don't know all of the lyrics, either, but I'm pretty sure it's "with open arms and open eyes." I think the song is about making your own choices and being responsible for yourself/not letting other things control you. In that sense I think wine stands for intoxication but could also mean religion, which as you said is often symbolized by wine (the Eucharist of course, but plenty of Pagan cults use wine heavily, too -- i.e. Dionysis). What what if you go to a church that just uses grape juice??
i've written a bit too much already, so I'll just say that I like the conclusion you come to. Face the day.
(nice flower, too!)

I don't like wine I don't think. I can't get past the smell. It kinda smells like throw up to me.

Hmm - is Apologetix better than the originals or a rip-off?

your not really old! that's just what the reply looks like! anyways, I like Apologetix- they sound good, and someof their ltrics are great- like the 'everythings snowflurries, everone's snowflakes'- their 'Flurry song- if you're able to go to Northwestern Books to listen first (I think they have a bottomless CD bank there)- I'd recommend doing so- what did you think of them last year (when I won that CD)? I remember you laughed at the 'Grandmama' song :)
