teachers for hire
09.20.04 (8:58 pm)   [edit]

I want to teach English to those who want to learn!  and I'd like to start in January or February.  Can anybody help me?  Obviously, according to this picture, I have superpowers that make my portfolio worth reading.  Unfortunately, if you're interested in hiring my friend here (although he also has super-senses- notice how he is aware of danger, even being in a different country than me!), he is a silent business partner- I'm the only one actually for hire.

y´all here that?
my girlfriend can make super force fields, has lazer eyes and works with a robot superspy!
What job won´t she be good at??

(hint: there aren´t any!)

Thanks, Aaron!
(btw, he has superpowers of his own, and you may learn more of that soon!)

Reply to: \"lazer\"?
hey, leave my boyrfiend alone, or I'll start you on fire!
He was applying our American tendency to turn English s's into z's. How soon will it be before 'laser' is spelled with a 'z'? Hmm?

You know as well as I do that systems of graphics change at an astronomically slow rate. Our current graphic system hasn't changed in 500 years. So I really doubt that the "z" sound in "laser" will alter its spelling any time soon, just like I really doubt that the common pronunciation of "t" as "d" in words like "fitted" will cause those words to be spelled differently any time soon. So, to review, one should just learn to spell so that they don't look stupid.

Oh, and by the way, no, I don't "here" that.

That's a nasty spider! I'm glad I don't ever have to stay in that room.

That room´s not a bad place to be if you have a girlfriend who can shoot lazers from her eyes.

Spiders don´t stand a chance!

Unfortunately, my girlfriend can't shoot lasers from her eyes. So I guess I'll still be avoiding rooms with dog-sized spiders.

I´m sure your girlfriend has got rad powers of her own.
That´s one of the most awesome thing about girlfriends -- they can protect us from gigantic insects, vampires, etc.
Hopefully we´re also able to do the same!

hmm...yes, my girlfriend does have some "rad" powers i suppose ;) but I've yet to see them have anything to do with giant insects or vampires...of course, who knows about that weird howling noise outside my window at night?

But anyway...isn't it our job, as the big strong men, to protect our girls? Then again, a spider 1/4 that size would have me scared out of my mind...then again, I am still a recovering aracnophobe....

Sometimes it is our job as the big strong men to protect our girls, but sometimes it´s our job to step out of the way and say, "ok, you´re the one with who can shoot lasers (aka lazers) from your eyes."

All right, I lied...a spider 1/10--ok, make it 1/20--that size would scare me out of my mind, especially if it were coming at me from behind with red eyes and drooling green oozy slime...eew!

Yet another day seems like it's wasted
You don't feel you're any closer to the prize
A dead end job where there's no future
Praying that tomorrow things won't be this way

Things'll get better...
This I promise you, I know
It won't feel this way forever...
Things'll get better,
This I promise you, I know
Loneliness won't last forever

Yet another day, another tired morning
You’re catching up to your intentions
You’re thinking life has to be easier than this
Maybe tomorrow things won’t be this way

I promise with all that’s in me to leave this emptiness behind

I spent 12 hours designing my 4-page newsletter last night, and I am psyched. Plus fall retreat is today. Awesomeness!

Regarding your last two posts: I also think killing (a bull or anything) simply for the pleasure of huge crowds who want to see blood is barbaric and inhumane. It reminds me of when they would kill Christians for fun in early Rome. As for sleeping late, I slep till 7 o'clock--p.m.! Of course, I didn't go to bed until 5 a.m., but sleeping for 14 hours was something. I slept so much because I had only gotten 3 hours of sleep in the previous 44 hours, and 32 hours over the previous 6 days. Needless to say, I was tired. So you didn't go on fall retreat this year? That stinks.

I hope you've gotten more regular sleep lately- it can really mess up a lot of other areas when you don't get enough or consistent sleep.
I'm sorry I missed Fall Retreat, but I plan on going to other brother/sister events, so I'm striving for that connection. All is not lost (yet).

I'm glad it's done, too- and I'm sort of excited for this one, but also nervous- 25% for a teacher whose expectations I don't know, in a class with some excellent writers . . . I mean, with thinking about how to be comfortable w/ who I am, or not worry about stuff- not comparing myself in other aspects of my life, and then taking classes like this- how can she grade me against myself if she doesn't know what I'm like? and how can I not carry over this need to please someone or worry about how skilled others are? :(

I dunno, seems like you just have to do your best and not worry about the rest of the class. Separate from performing some kind of terrorist attack, you can't keep other people from doing a good job, you can only do a good job yourself.

I sure am glad to get that done, though. I know what you mean about not knowing expectations. My "essay" didn't have much of my opinion in it. In fact, I had 17 citations in 4 pages! That is a new record for citations per page for me. But she said students would be rewarded for having organized thought and good research. Also, I don't know how picky she is about formatting, and I keep freaking out because whenever I save my file on my computer in WordPerfect and go to the computer lab to print it out, the format gets completely screwed up, and I can't figure out how to get the page numbers to line up with the one-inch margins! Oh well. I hope when she sees my quality writing, she will overlook any minor technicalities.

Tell me how your paper is going (or ends up, depending on when you read this). Do you have any other major projects coming up? Btw, that's the first time I've written two papers in less than a two-day period--27 hours, actually. Also, the first time I've gotten a paper done prior to the night before it is due! So, that's three first for me already today. Lol!

Good job, Chuck! I'm glad things are going so well for you. Thanks for the advice about not worrying.
And for page numbers, you can go to 'header' and press the # symbol, and it will automatically put it in the right place.
My paper's printed, and I'm pretty happy with it- at least it sounds more like me and cohesive than the Etymology paper.

Glad you got it done. Sorry about the miscommunication over the book. I wish the whole page number thing were that easy. I thought I knew all the tricks for formatting, but it was still being weird regarding the margins.
