pineapple
12.25.04 (4:28 pm)   [edit]
My friend Laura taught me a cool way to cut a pineapple. Unlike the block-approach which we find (just cutting the rough skin off)- when Laura does it, there is a spiral that is party-worthy. I want to do that some day (a summer birthday?) and put it on display. Anyways, she just kind of wedged out the skin, following its natural pattern, and shaved off the bits stuck by going straight down. mmmm!
So pineapples got me thinking about nicknames. I haven't had many through the years, but one was 'Pineapple Polzin,' 'Pineapple Cheeks' or just 'Pineapple.' This I think was do to chubby cheeks (it was high school! not baby fat) I think. Combined w/ blonde (dyed) hair. Definitely better than 'Pumpkin'- which was the alternative. My friend (Johnny) couldn't decide between the two (that was embarassing- having attention focused on me of what food I resemble most). Anyways, my cheeks are still the same, but my hair is its natural brown, but I would still answer to some form of pineapple. The fruit is so refreshing, and exotic- and pineapple upside-down cake (especially when Serpe makes it) rocks!

thanks. There's something fun about doing stuff w/ hair- like I'm a new person aferwards, but now I do that w/ scissors and different styles instead of color. Do haircuts do the same thing to guys? Or is there something similar that evokes that?

Pineapple is my favorite fruit to prepare and eat when is it fresh. I used to splurge once in a while and buy a fresh one at the grocery store where I worked as a cashier. The guy who worked in the fruit department would cut it up for me (he was very careful to get all the yummy fruit out) and he told me how when he was in Vietnam, the troops used to reach up with their bayonets and slice fresh pineapples right off the trees to snack on everyday. He said it was the best food in the world.

No, I don't think haircuts do the same for guys. At least not most guys. I'm not sure what would be an equivalent. Probably something like getting a new car. But I don't think most guys feel the need to redefine themselves so much as girls do.
