Yay for opening up Boo for hurting.  In the high school class today, the most difficult student refused to do something simple (make a copy of a sheet that showed his homework for the week).  Every student had to do that for me, and we chit-chatted for a minute, no problem- making sure they udnerstood what they had to do before the teacher left.  The teacher comes once every two weeks usually.  He just would not comply, and so Patricia, the lady in charge who stays in her office monitoring everything and does work that way, had to deal with him.  At the end of the day, she was happy- that Tanner opened up to her and admitted that he was hurt- thinking I was being bossing, but Patricia was just beaming, because the only emotion he usually confesses is anger, so this is a big thing for him.  That is encouraging, but I don't want to help someone out if it means hurting them.

As a teacher, you have to assert authority, and if I know you at all Erin, you're not the type of person to needlessly boss people around. So I wouldn't fret over this! Lots of times people get hurt by things b/c of something completely unrelated, like if they've had past negative experiences at home, or with meeting new people.
