posted by: trickangle (reply) post date: 04.04.05 (2:51 pm) It must be nice not to ever have to worry about money. posted by: Aro (reply) post date: 04.04.05 (8:11 pm) it's interesting how different people have different sorts of relationships with money -- both my grandparents and my aunt and uncle are retired (which means they're living off of OUR social security) and also don't seem to worry about having cash, but my grandparents live FAR more extravagently whereas my aunt and uncle live in a place that basically resembles a trailer park in the middle of nowhere -- some people might call it a bit of a dump. But my aunt and uncle don't envy my grandparents or their money at all and they have a ton of fun at their backwater spa surrounded by their old, desert rat friends. I think it shows that as long as your needs are met, it doesn't matter what sphere of influence you live in. All of us in this country are blessed to be living without threat of war or famine. posted by: trickangle (reply) post date: 04.06.05 (2:52 am) I repeat, it must be nice not to ever have to worry about money. You picked the right guy, Erin. Whoever marries me will likely be poor. posted by: trickangle (reply) post date: 04.06.05 (2:53 am) (B/c I'm poor, that is.) posted by: hopie26 (reply) post date: 04.06.05 (8:20 am) I have relatives that are pretty prosperous, but they do not know Christ. Even though my immediate family is poor, I have grown up in a loving, Christian home. That is more valuable than all the money my relatives have :) posted by: Erin (reply) post date: 04.06.05 (10:57 am) yikes! I didn't expect so many comments! I agree that there are more important things than money, and that a healthy emotional relationshhip w/ family, and time spent w/ them is much more valuable than a more luxurious, distant relationship. I think it's interesting how people can live such different lives. It's easy for me to dis people because of how they are living their lives- because that may not be the way I would use their resources, but I also believe that we're in the position for a purpose- there are people in Palm Desert that I will never meet, but they may be neighbors or a busboy, that Aaron's grandparents can have a positive influence on. The same is true for everyone. A lot of times, I would like to balance everything out, so everyone gets everything equally, but while it may not be fair that life is not that way, I am glad that we each have an important place in it. posted by: Aro (reply) post date: 04.06.05 (11:59 am) Reply to: trickangle Not sure why you seem to think I'm not poor or don't/won't have to worry about money. posted by: hopie26 (reply) post date: 04.06.05 (12:57 pm) Reply to: hopie26 I'm sorry - I didn't mean for my comment to sound derragatory at all! I was just saying a general comment that as Christians money isn't that important (thankfully) and it shouldn't be that important. With others (in general, not necessarily anyone mentioned in the post at all) money can be too important. I wasn't pointing fingers to say anyone commenting or posting is consumed by the love of money!!!! I just re-read my comment and it can be taken differently than I intended it to be taken. Sorry! posted by: trickangle (reply) post date: 04.07.05 (2:58 pm) Reply to: Aro Your family is rich! That's why! Lol |
