why give up?

The snow collects the good with the bad, as can be seen when it melts. This blog is my snow, holding onto my experiences.

why give up?
04.28.05 (6:40 pm)   [edit]

Things are up in the air a little bit right now.  The least mentally-challenging tutoring assignment that I have is cancelled.  The 9th-grader decided he doesn't need help, and his parents are letting him make that choice.  We only actually met twice, but I thought it was a rather secured position for at least the next few weeks.  I guess I was wrong.  I'll try another student, if one comes along, but it was nice that it was in the same city, and that I knew what was going on.  (All these math classes are piling up and challenging me!!)  Also, I thought I could stay in my current rental agreement 'til I choose to leave, but I guess another girl is already lined up for my spot, and I may need to check out at the end of May!!  I'm not too worried, because I want to leave the 7th/8th of June anyways, but I totally didn't see this coming.

Why do people commit suicide?  (one of my student's close friends did yesterday) --- Don't they see that the absence of them is much harder on their loves one than their presence ever would be?  I know we all feel like we disappoint others or make their life difficult sometimes, but not to the extent that we should give up and cut ourselves off from everyone.  Maybe we need to share the hope we have in Christ, and the joy that He brings to our lives, so that others can receive that.

I thought people who commit suicide do so because they think everybody else hates THEM and that they have no hope for living. . . . At least that's the way I felt when I was suicidal.

Where are you going on June 8th?

I was trying to say that suicidal people may think people hate them or are angry with them, but that they really ARE loved, but aren't giving others the chance to prove it or themselves the chance to accept it. I plan on moving back to Wisconsin for the summer.

I guess my point was just that a suicidal person isn't going to think rationally.

You're moving back home? Is Aaron moving, too?
